## Summary
- A federal court approved a revised order in September 2026 raising the maximum Prime settlement payment from $51 to $200.
- Members who used 11 to 20 Prime benefits in a 12-month period are newly covered, with automatic payments set to start October 1, 2026.
- No claim form is needed for the current payments; payments expire 60 days after issue, and refunds run through April 2027.
- The separate claim route for some customers closed July 27, 2026, according to FOX Local reporting.

## What changed

The Federal Trade Commission said on September 17, 2026 that a federal court approved a joint FTC and Amazon motion revising the order in the Prime case. The changes widen who qualifies, raise the maximum total payment per eligible customer from $51 to $200, and make future payments automatic with no claims or paperwork. The FTC page on the refunds says Amazon began sending payments in November 2025 and had issued more than $845 million as of September 2026. Automatic refunds under the revised order continue through April 2027. [2](https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/refunds/amazon-refunds)

## Who is eligible

According to the FTC, a customer qualifies if they are a U.S. Prime member who, between June 23, 2019 and June 23, 2025, signed up through a challenged enrollment flow or tried to cancel online and could not. The challenged flows are the universal Prime decision page, the shipping selection page, single page checkout and the Prime Video enrollment flow. The usage test has also widened. Under the original terms, payments went to members who used fewer than 10 Prime benefits in a year. The FTC now says members who used 11 to 20 benefits in a one-year period are covered, with Amazon starting automatic payments to that group on October 1, 2026. Yahoo Finance, in a September 29 report, summarized the test as no more than 20 benefits in any 12-month period after enrolling, with Prime Video and Prime Music counting toward the total. [4](https://finance.yahoo.com/small-business/articles/amazon-prime-ftc-refunds-start-190322504.html)

## Amounts and timing

People who already accepted payments may receive a supplemental $149, bringing their total to $200. The FTC says that applies if accepted payments do not reach a required threshold by February 2027. The release does not define the threshold. The final round of supplemental payments starts by April 2027 and is also automatic. Payments go out by PayPal, Venmo or mailed check. The FTC page says they expire 60 days after the issue date, so recipients should deposit or redeem them promptly. [2](https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/refunds/amazon-refunds)

The settlement, agreed in September 2025, totals $2.5 billion: up to $1.5 billion in consumer refunds and a $1 billion civil penalty. The FTC alleged Amazon enrolled consumers in Prime without consent and made cancelling hard. ## Claim deadline confusion

Searches for a deadline likely trace to earlier coverage. FOX Local's KTVU reported on July 24 that eligible customers who had not received an automatic refund had until July 27, 2026 to file a claim at SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com, for payments of up to $51. That window has closed. [3](https://www.ktvu.com/news/amazon-prime-settlement-how-eligible-customers-can-claim-refunds-before-july-27-deadline)

The current payments described by the FTC require no claim, and Yahoo Finance and Tom's Guide both reported no claim deadline for the expanded phase. Why interest rose on October 21 is not established by these sources. ## What is not yet known

The sources reviewed do not confirm that the October 1 payments to the 11 to 20 benefit group have reached customers, how many people are in that group, or what the February 2027 threshold is. Amazon decides whether an individual enrolled through a challenged flow. The FTC says it is not contacting people about these refunds and that callers claiming to be from the agency are scammers. Neither the FTC nor Amazon will ask for payment to release a refund. Questions on payments go to the settlement administrator at SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com. [2](https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/refunds/amazon-refunds)
