## Funding targets AI-led product discovery

Azoma has raised $11.2 million in Series A funding to expand its software for brands competing to be found and recommended by AI shopping assistants. The company announced the round on Oct. 21, saying Puma Growth Partners led it, with participation from dunnhumby, Twin Path, MaRS IAF, Rank Ventures and Ignite Ventures, as well as angel investors from Google DeepMind and Legora. The investment comes as retailers and technology companies build AI tools that can recommend products and, in some cases, help shoppers complete purchases. Azoma’s focus is on consumer goods: it describes its service as Agentic Commerce Optimization, a set of tools intended to measure how products appear in AI answers and suggest changes to brand content. ## From AI visibility to commerce measurement

Business Insider reported that Azoma works with brands including Unilever, L’Oréal, Reckitt and Mars. Its platform can recommend changes to marketplace listings and content on channels such as YouTube and Reddit, and uses digital twins to simulate how different consumer profiles encounter product recommendations. The company says the aim is to help brands understand which products AI systems surface and what content may improve their chances of being considered. Azoma said the new funding will help it track more AI assistants, including newer personal agents, and build optimization and attribution features for enterprise customers. Business Insider separately reported that the company plans to combine its visibility data with retail analytics from dunnhumby to help brands assess whether greater exposure in AI tools corresponds with sales at physical stores. ## A young market with unsettled measurement

The company’s growth figures are self-reported: Azoma said it had expanded its team from 12 to 40 people and grown revenue almost tenfold over the past year. Business Insider reported that the company expected to increase headcount to roughly 80 to 100 next year. Those plans depend on hiring and continued demand, and the company has not publicly disclosed a valuation for the Series A. For U.S. retailers and brands, the commercial question is not only whether AI assistants mention a product, but whether that recommendation changes a shopper’s path to purchase. Business Insider cited a Morgan Stanley estimate that AI shopping assistants could account for as much as $385 billion in U.S. ecommerce sales by 2030; that is a forecast, not a measured current market. Attribution across chat interfaces, retailer websites and in-store sales remains difficult to establish from visibility alone. Azoma’s planned retail-data integration is an attempt to connect those stages, though the company has not yet published results demonstrating how much AI exposure contributes to sales.
