## A four-run hole, erased

MILWAUKEE — The Brewers turned a 4-0 first-inning deficit into a 5-4 win over the Rays on Saturday night, moving within two victories of the franchise’s first World Series title. Sal Frelick tied the game with a solo homer in the sixth, and rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt singled home the go-ahead run in the seventh. Tampa Bay scored four times before Milwaukee came to bat. After Yandy Díaz reached on Pratt’s throwing error, Chandler Simpson and Junior Caminero hit run-scoring singles, and Liam Hicks followed with a two-run homer. The Brewers answered with two runs in the bottom half, then drew within one in the fourth when Pratt scored on an error by first baseman Jonathan Aranda. ## Frelick and Pratt deliver

Frelick’s 408-foot drive to center field off Ian Seymour opened the sixth and made it 4-4. It was his first home run in three months and his first career postseason homer, according to the Associated Press. The tie lasted into the seventh, when Brice Turang doubled, moved to third on Garrett Mitchell’s flyout, and scored on Pratt’s single against Kevin Kelly. Pratt had made the early error that helped spark Tampa Bay’s lead. Milwaukee’s comeback was its seventh of the postseason and its second from a four-run deficit; the Brewers also rallied from 4-0 to beat the Dodgers in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series. Milwaukee has now won seven straight games. ## The bullpen closes it out

Milwaukee’s relievers held Tampa Bay scoreless over the final six innings after starter Logan Henderson allowed four runs, three earned, in three innings. JoJo Romero, Dustin May and DL Hall each worked a scoreless inning; Abner Uribe earned the win after recording four outs, and Aaron Ashby finished for his third postseason save. The Rays put the tying run at third in the ninth, but Ashby struck out Díaz to end the game. Tampa Bay had also left the potential tying run at third in Friday’s 3-2 loss, making the late missed chances a feature of both opening games. In Game 2, Jackson Chourio also threw out Hicks at home to end the sixth. ## Series shifts to St. Petersburg

The Brewers take a 2-0 lead into Game 3 on Monday at Tropicana Field. The Associated Press reported that 46 of the previous 57 teams to lead a World Series 2-0 went on to win the championship. Tampa Bay will start former Milwaukee pitcher Freddy Peralta; the Brewers are set to counter with left-hander Robert Gasser. For the Rays, the next game begins with a chance to stop Milwaukee’s run before the series moves deeper into Tampa Bay. For the Brewers, two comeback wins in a row have turned early deficits into a defining postseason pattern—and left them halfway to the title.
