## Fabrício Bruno decides a tight match

Cruzeiro defeated Remo 1-0 at Mineirão on Friday in the opening match of the 32nd round of Brazil’s Série A. Defender Fabrício Bruno scored the winner with a header from Matheus Pereira’s corner in first-half stoppage time, UOL and ge reported. The goal was Fabrício Bruno’s first of the season. UOL reported that the match produced few clear chances: Cruzeiro goalkeeper Otávio stopped a dangerous effort from Jajá, who also struck the post, while Remo goalkeeper Marcelo Rangel made several saves to keep the visitors within one goal. ## Cruzeiro climbs as Remo’s pressure grows

The three points took Cruzeiro to 54 and provisionally into third place, one point above Athletico-PR before the rest of the round. Coach Artur Jorge acknowledged that his team lacked its usual inspiration but emphasized the importance of the result in the race for a direct Copa Libertadores place, according to ge. Remo remained 19th with 26 points, seven behind Corinthians, the first team outside the relegation zone at the time of the final whistle. The result extended the pressure on a side that has struggled to convert competitive performances into the wins required to escape the bottom four. The narrow score reflected a second half with limited attacking production. UOL reported that Remo held 59% of possession after the break, but neither side created many chances. Cruzeiro therefore had to protect a lead built from a set piece rather than sustained open-play pressure. Cruzeiro next visits city rival Atlético Mineiro on Oct. 29, while Remo is scheduled to host Botafogo on Oct. 28. Those fixtures will further test Cruzeiro’s top-four push and Remo’s diminishing margin for error in the relegation fight.
