- The Jets beat the Browns 17-12 to end a three-game skid.
- New York finished with eight sacks and sealed the win on a late strip-sack.

## A breakout game for the rookie

David Bailey delivered the strongest game of his young NFL career in the New York Jets’ 17-12 win over the Cleveland Browns. The rookie edge defender recorded three sacks and tied for the team lead with seven tackles. NFL game logs confirm all three sacks came in Week 5, more than doubling his season total and giving New York a disruptive presence throughout a wet afternoon. ## Pressure changed the matchup

The Jets finished with eight sacks as a team and limited Cleveland to 198 total yards. Bailey’s production included nine pressures, according to postgame reporting, and he consistently forced quarterback Deshaun Watson off schedule. His work did not directly produce the final takeaway, but it helped create the long-yardage situations in which New York’s pass rush could attack without respecting the run. ## How New York finished

Cleveland led 12-10 late before punter Corey Bojorquez mishandled a snap, giving the Jets a short field. Braelon Allen scored on a 22-yard run with just over three minutes remaining. Will McDonald IV then strip-sacked Watson on fourth down in the final minute. The defensive finish preserved the Jets’ first one-score victory of the season and ended a three-game losing streak. ## Why Bailey’s performance matters

New York selected Bailey second overall because of his pass-rush upside, but early comparisons and a relatively quiet opening month created pressure around his start. The Browns game supplied concrete evidence of that ceiling. One performance does not establish season-long consistency, yet three sacks against an NFL offense make this more than a projection: Bailey has now shown he can convert speed and pressure into finished plays.
