## Summary
- Inter Miami won 2-0.
- Germán Berterame and Rodrigo De Paul scored.
- Miami kept a clean sheet against NYCFC.

## The final result

Inter Miami defeated New York City FC 2-0 at Miami Freedom Park on October 15. Germán Berterame opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and Rodrigo De Paul doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time. Miami protected that advantage through the second half, recording a clean sheet and preventing NYCFC from turning greater urgency into a goal. ## Who drove the outcome

Berterame supplied the early breakthrough, giving Miami room to control possession and choose when to counter. De Paul’s goal just before halftime changed the visitors’ task from finding one equalizer to chasing two goals after the break. Lionel Messi captained the home side, while Miami’s midfield and defensive line limited the quality of NYCFC’s final passes. ## The decisive stretch

The second goal was the critical sequence. NYCFC was close to reaching halftime only one goal behind, a manageable position for adjustments. De Paul scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time, forcing New York to open the game after the interval. That expansion created space for Miami and reduced the visitors’ ability to build patiently against a set defense. ## What the result changes

The win gives Inter Miami another useful result as the MLS schedule moves toward its decisive stage. NYCFC must improve its final-third execution after failing to score despite making attacking substitutions. For both clubs, the performance offers a tactical reference point: Miami can win without depending on a Messi goal, while New York needs more threat when opponents protect the center.
