## The result

Boca Juniors beat Vasco da Gama 3-1 in the second leg of their Copa Sudamericana semifinal at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday night, and advanced to the final 3-2 on aggregate, according to Metropoles and 365Scores. Vasco had won the first leg 1-0 in Buenos Aires on Oct. 13. Defender Lautaro Di Lollo opened the scoring in the third minute, heading in from a corner, Netvasco and Lance reported. Miguel Merentiel made it 2-0 in the first half after a counterattack that left him one-on-one with Vasco goalkeeper Leo Jardim; Metropoles and 365Scores put the goal in the 33rd minute and Netvasco in the 34th. Vasco's Puma Rodriguez pulled one back in the second half, in the 66th minute by Netvasco's count, finishing a cross from Cuiabano. Leandro Paredes then scored a long-range shot in the 88th minute, the 43rd of the second half, which Jardim let through, according to Netvasco and 365Scores. Metropoles gives the same 43rd-minute time but describes it as first-half added time, which conflicts with the other two reports and with the sequence of goals. ## Aggregate resolved

The earlier version of this article flagged an aggregate conflict after Di Lollo's early goal. Vasco led 1-0 from the first leg, so the opening goal levelled the tie at 1-1, and Lance's pre-goal note that Vasco could advance with a draw was a statement about the starting position. With the 3-1 result, Boca win the tie 3-2 on aggregate, as both Metropoles and 365Scores state. No extra time or penalty shootout was needed. ## The match

The second leg kicked off at 21:30 Brasilia time (00:30 UTC on Wednesday) at the Maracana, where Vasco were the nominal home side. Venezuelan referee Jesus Valenzuela was in charge, according to Lance. The Rio Times reported before the match that the venue had been provisional because the stadium's operator contested the booking in court. Netvasco reported that Vasco midfielder Paulo Henrique went off injured early in the second half and that Marino and Brenner came on at half-time for Adson and David.
