Burrow turns a 13-0 hole into a 35-13 Bengals win

Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals flipped a divisional game in one half Sunday, beating the Baltimore Ravens 35-13 at M&T Bank Stadium on Oct. 25. Baltimore led 13-0 at the break, but Cincinnati scored touchdowns on five consecutive second-half possessions to finish with 35 unanswered points. The win moved the Bengals to 4-2; Baltimore fell to 4-3 and 0-2 in AFC North play. [1] [3] [4]

Burrow's line captures the reversal: he finished 22 of 30 for 292 yards, four touchdown passes and no interceptions after completing just 6 of 12 throws for 43 yards before halftime. His second-half scoring passes went to Mike Gesicki, Higgins, Ja'Marr Chase and Drew Sample. Samaje Perine added a one-yard rushing touchdown after the Bengals stopped Baltimore on fourth down. The first half had looked like a different game: Baltimore held the ball for 22 minutes, 20 seconds, against Cincinnati's 7:40, and stretched its advantage with a 48-yard Tyler Huntley-to-Flowers touchdown plus two field goals. Cincinnati's five second-half touchdown drives were a complete reversal of that early control. [3] [4]

Tee Higgins becomes the comeback's biggest receiving target

Higgins was a key part of the surge. He had no receptions in the first half, then caught six passes for 148 yards and a touchdown, including the 13-yard score that gave Cincinnati its first lead at 14-13. Chase added five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. The Bengals spread the four passing scores across four receivers, forcing Baltimore to account for more than one target as the comeback accelerated. [2] [3] [4]

The defense supplied the other turning point: a turnover on downs helped set up Perine's touchdown, and Cincinnati later intercepted a tipped Tyler Huntley pass. Sample's 16-yard touchdown catch followed that takeaway and made the score 35-13. Huntley, starting in place of Jackson, completed 23 of 34 passes for 298 yards, one touchdown and one interception; Zay Flowers caught eight passes for 137 yards and Baltimore's lone touchdown. Burrow and Higgins were available; Jackson was ruled out

The injury context was different for the two quarterbacks. Cincinnati's official Week 7 report, last updated Friday, listed no Bengals with a game status, and Burrow and Higgins both played. Baltimore's report listed Lamar Jackson out with an ankle injury after a Saturday update; he did not play. The available reporting does not establish a return date for Jackson, so the result should not be read as an update on when he will be back. [5] [1] [3]

Burrow left for Joe Flacco with just under five minutes remaining, when Cincinnati had a 22-point lead, according to NBC Sports; that report described the change as late-game mop-up work rather than an injury substitution. The final score is definitive, but the next useful health update will be the clubs' practice and injury reports ahead of Week 8. [3] [5]
