Editorial standards and corrections policy

Last updated October 15, 2026

Sourcing

Articles are based on published, attributable reporting and on primary material such as official statements, filings, court records and data. News articles cite at least two independent, relevant sources. Several outlets repeating the same original report count as one source. Every paragraph of an article links to the sources that support it.

Verification

Names, dates, figures, locations and quotations are checked against the sources before publication. Where facts are disputed or unknown, the article says so. We do not publish rumours, speculation presented as fact, placeholder articles or stories we cannot support.

Search trends

Rising search interest helps us decide which subjects to cover. It is not evidence of anything, and we do not guess why a search is rising when the reason has not been reported.

Originality and quotations

Articles are written in our own words. Quotations are short, attributed and taken from the cited source.

Images

Images accompany articles to illustrate the subject. Each image carries a credit line naming its source. Rights holders who want an image credited differently or removed can email us and we will act promptly.

Updates

When a story develops, we update the existing article and show the time of the latest update next to the original publication time.

Corrections

We correct factual errors as quickly as possible. When an error materially changes an article, the correction is noted in the article with the date it was made. To request a correction, email hello@thesignaledition.com with the article link and the correct information.

Independence

Advertising does not influence what we cover or how we cover it. Advertisements are clearly separated from editorial content.
