Barcelona extend their winning run

Barcelona defeated Real Betis 5-2 on October 17, recording a ninth consecutive La Liga victory. Reports from beIN Sports, ESPN and AS agree on the score and a match that shifted further toward Barcelona after Betis were reduced to 10 players. The result keeps Barcelona’s perfect league start intact and adds another high-scoring performance to the run. [1] [2]

Five different attacking contributions

Rodri, Gabriel Jesus, Eric García, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal supplied Barcelona’s goals. Yamal also created a goal, again serving as both scorer and provider. The distribution of the scoring made it difficult for Betis to focus on a single threat. Barcelona moved the ball quickly after turnovers and repeatedly found runners arriving beyond the first defensive line. [2] [3]

Red card changes the balance

Facundo Bernal’s dismissal left Betis with 10 players and reduced the visitors’ ability to press or protect wide areas. Betis still scored twice and showed enough attacking quality to punish loose defending, but the numerical disadvantage made a sustained comeback unlikely. Barcelona used the extra space to manage possession and add the goals that turned a competitive match into a clear victory. [1] [3]

Strong run, imperfect performance

The 5-2 final supports Barcelona’s status as the league’s form team, but conceding twice gives the coaching staff material to examine. Betis created chances before and after the red card and did not simply retreat. The durable facts are the five Barcelona scorers, Bernal’s dismissal and a ninth straight league win. How long the streak lasts will depend on whether the club can retain its attacking variety while reducing the openings it allowed here. [1] [2]
