A debut memoir reaches bookstores Tuesday

Sophia Bush’s first book, And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress, is scheduled to be published Tuesday, Oct. 27, by Flatiron Books, a Macmillan imprint. The publisher describes it as a memoir about the actor’s life on and off screen and frames its themes around identity, change and returning to a sense of self. [1] [2]

Bush is best known to television audiences for playing Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill and Detective Erin Lindsay on Chicago P.D. The publisher’s author biography also notes her work as a producer, activist and podcast host. The new book is her first, according to Macmillan’s catalog listing. [1] [2]

What Bush says the book covers

In an interview published by People in September, Bush said the memoir grew out of years of encouragement from agents and editors, but that she waited until she felt ready to write it. The outlet reported that the book moves across her Los Angeles childhood, her shift from studying journalism toward acting, her years on One Tree Hill and Chicago P.D., and difficult changes in her personal life. [3]

The publication campaign has included selected excerpts that add detail to her account of becoming an actor. Entertainment Weekly reported that Bush describes three auditions before landing the role of Brooke Davis, including how she adjusted her look after feedback from casting staff. The account is Bush’s recollection in the memoir, not an independently documented casting record. [4]

A Vogue excerpt from the book disclosed that Bush and former professional soccer player Ashlyn Harris married in a private upstate New York ceremony in summer 2025. Vogue reported that the couple shared the news publicly with the excerpt on Sept. 30. Later coverage of Bush’s Oct. 21 appearance on Call Her Daddy focused on her account of their relationship timeline; those are personal recollections, and the article does not treat disputed online speculation as established fact. [5] [6]

The release-week conversation

CBS News listed Bush as a guest for the Monday, Oct. 26, edition of CBS Mornings, identifying her as the author of And I Will Tell You Mine. The appearance places the book in a national morning-show interview slot one day before publication; CBS’s guest listing does not indicate what excerpts or subjects were discussed on air. [7]

The release also begins a scheduled book-tour week. Macmillan lists events from Nov. 1 through Nov. 5, 2026. The memoir’s public materials emphasize a broad life narrative rather than a single television role, while recent interviews have concentrated on the experiences Bush chose to revisit in print. The book’s reception and sales will become measurable only after release. [8] [1]
