Summary
- TikTok says its TikTok Ad Network is now generally available to advertisers targeting the United States, extending campaigns across nearly 400,000 apps worldwide.
- At Advertising Week New York on Oct. 5, TikTok also announced AI-assisted shopping, lead-generation and advertising workflow products.
- Independent ad buyers say broader inventory must prove it can deliver incremental audiences, transparent placement controls and measurable results.
An off-platform network enters the U.S.
TikTok has opened its TikTok Ad Network to U.S.-targeted campaigns, giving advertisers a way to extend eligible TikTok campaigns into third-party apps as the company broadens its pitch to brands. TikTok said the network, previously known as Pangle, is generally available to U.S. advertisers and spans nearly 400,000 apps worldwide. It is managed through TikTok Ads Manager, where the company says advertisers can use brand-safety and placement controls. [2] [3]
The U.S. launch was part of a wider package announced at Advertising Week New York on Oct. 5. Marketing Dive reported that TikTok is positioning the network alongside new commerce and artificial-intelligence features ahead of the holiday advertising period. TikTok says its network can reach more than 1 billion daily active users across apps, but that scale figure is the company’s own description of the inventory, not an independent audit of campaign reach. AI tools target shopping and lead generation
TikTok also announced Buy Direct, an in-app checkout feature designed to let a user purchase from a brand without leaving the For You feed, and Shopping Assistant, a conversational agent that can answer questions about products, sizing, shipping and availability. The company said it is developing these experiences with commerce and payment providers including Salesforce, Shopify, Shoplazza and Stripe. Its announcement describes the products as being introduced, but does not give a general release date or detailed U.S. availability schedule for each feature. [1] [3]
For advertisers seeking customer inquiries rather than direct sales, TikTok introduced Agentic Leads, an AI-guided conversation tool for TikTok direct messages and lead forms on advertisers’ own websites. The company says the system is intended to capture and qualify prospects. Marketing Dive independently reported on both of those placements; performance claims about how many leads the tool will convert have not yet been established in the cited launch materials. [1] [3]
Campaign automation meets a measurement test
The package also extends TikTok’s Smart+ automation to search advertising and adds Smart+ Creative Selection, which brings a brand’s own assets, creator content and TikTok Symphony AI-generated creative into an approval workflow. TikTok says advertisers retain control over which recommended creative goes live. It also said its TikTok for Business Model Context Protocol connector is available through several AI platforms, including Claude, Kimi, Manus, Perplexity, Replit and Snowflake, for workflows such as campaign planning and performance analysis. The network’s expansion is not a guaranteed budget shift. Digiday reported that ad buyers want clearer information about which apps carry placements and whether the inventory reaches valuable audiences that advertisers cannot already reach elsewhere. It noted that Google and Meta have long offered their own third-party app networks. For TikTok, the commercial test is whether campaign-level transparency, independent measurement and incremental conversions justify adding this inventory to a media plan, rather than simply increasing the number of places an ad can appear.
