Uma Thurman previews a sharper Charley-Dexter dynamic in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’

Thurman returns to the Dexter story

Uma Thurman is back in the center of the conversation around Dexter: Resurrection as the Paramount+ crime drama heads toward its second-season premiere. In an interview at New York Comic Con published Oct. 11, Thurman and co-star Michael C. Hall discussed the renewed connection between their characters, Charley Brown and Dexter Morgan. Asked about the season’s relationship arc, Thurman said the characters have strong chemistry and that working with Hall was inspiring. The event and its date are documented by the interview outlet; Paramount+ lists the season’s premiere for Oct. 30. ^{[1] [2]}

Thurman offered a small but telling hint about what makes Charley’s return interesting: the character is smart and self-assured, but may overestimate what she understands. Thurman said part of Charley’s journey is realizing that someone who usually gets things right may not have everything right. She described exploring that discovery as exciting to play. The comment is a characterization from the actor, not a reveal of specific plot twists; she did not spell out what Charley gets wrong or how the season resolves it. ^[1]

Hall said the characters’ interaction becomes more significant this season, after beginning from an adversarial place. In the interview, he described Charley as someone Dexter may trust because she appears to respect and appreciate him, while warning that her agenda could make that apparent understanding dangerous for him. Those remarks complement the season’s official premise, which places Dexter between two new killers while he contends with a midlife crisis. Thurman’s own remarks focus on the uncertainty inside Charley’s confidence, leaving the precise nature of their alliance open. ^{[1] [2]}

What is confirmed about season two

A separate People interview published Oct. 20 brought a fresh anecdote from the season-two premiere in New York on Oct. 8: Hall said he tries to set aside the fact that he is working with Thurman and let her become the character, rather than getting starstruck. People identifies Thurman as Charley, the former Special Ops officer and right-hand woman to the now-deceased Leon Prater. The comment is Hall’s, not a statement from Thurman, but it underscores why the cast pairing has become a promotional focus ahead of the new episodes. ^[3]

The second season is scheduled to premiere Friday, Oct. 30, on Paramount+ Premium, according to the platform and Paramount’s corporate press materials. The official platform guide confirms Thurman is returning as Charley and identifies Brian Cox and Dan Stevens as new adversaries for Dexter, played by Hall. Entertainment Weekly’s season guide independently reports the same Oct. 30 launch and outlines the returning and new cast. The New York Comic Con conversation and the premiere coverage provide timely context for the Uma Thurman trend, but available evidence does not establish that either interview alone caused the spike in searches. ^{[2] [4] [5]}
