A larger home venue
The Atlanta Dream will host Games 3 and 4 of the WNBA Finals at State Farm Arena after scheduling changes resolved conflicts at the larger venue. Atlanta News First reported October 13 that the Dream and Atlanta Hawks announced the agreement for the championship series against the Golden State Valkyries. [1]
Game 3 moves forward one day, from October 22 to October 21, with an 8 p.m. Eastern start. Atlanta News First says a Sombr concert was the conflict behind that change. Game 4 remains October 24 but will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern, allowing the arena to stage another basketball game later that day. [1]
The Hawks will host the Houston Rockets at 8:30 p.m. that evening in their regular-season home opener. The revised timetable means the NBA and WNBA games can take place on the same date. The Dream’s statement credited collaboration among the teams, leagues and broadcast partners for making the relocation possible. [1]
Tickets and remaining questions
General ticket sales for the two Atlanta games begin Friday at 10 a.m. Eastern, according to Field Level Media’s report carried by Reuters. That report says the Dream averaged 9,695 spectators across their three earlier playoff home games at State Farm Arena, compared with Gateway Center Arena’s 3,500-seat basketball capacity. [2]
Reuters also identifies an unresolved scheduling question for a possible Game 6 on October 29, when the Hawks have a home game against Cleveland. Tuesday’s announcement did not address that conflict. Separately, Atlanta News First reports that the Dream have already announced State Farm Arena as their home for all 2027 games. [2] [1]
